If the air resistance only decreases his speed a little then I guess new 52 superman accelerates to lightspeed pretty fast. Can he obtain lightspeed in a fight is what I'm really wondering though. I can't see him taking off a light speed |

I don't know if his acceleration will be decreased too, that might very well be possible. Just so you guys can see the difference better. Light travels at 299,792,458 meters per second in a vacuum. Light travels at 298,925,574 meters per second in air. As far as I know, the acceleration for light doesn't slow down whether it's in a vacuum or not, but that's most likely because it doesn't have any mass. |

Well he's not going to go from 0-186,000 miles per second as soon as he moves, that would be rather...crazy. However he'd definitely be going much faster than just 1 measly mile per second, which is mind you around Mach 5. In order to make Pluto to Earth work in a minute or a few he'd have to reach Lightspeed pretty damn quickly, mind you I can't really put an accurate amount of time. But the example I showed before where it takes light 4 hours to reach Pluto from Earth should speak about how fast he can accel. |

So when he takes off he's not lightspeed but if you give him a little bit more time to accelerate he can easily pass light speed. I could agree with that I guess |

See but this isnt a race. Goku, Vegeta and Black Bolt are faster in CQC than traveling, not that Superman is inferior, but they can be mere brushes of wind clashing when they battle. I think they'll be even though until their stamina decline though Black Bolt and Superman will last more longer. |

...grrr I thought Goku and Vegeta were backup incase Superman failed? Either way I think we've already established that if this were a not holding back Superman, then the amount of accel his fist would go at would go MUCH faster than Mach 10. There's no other way to make Pluto to Earth work without giving him an insane accel rate. I really hate to spew the example again, even combat speed has an acceleration to it, it's just apparently that it is limited by range of movement. If Superman can reach MFTL speeds in a minute, Mind you once more he reached Earth from Pluto in a minute, when Light would take nearly FOUR hours to do. Then if he moves his fist then it WILL go MUCH faster than Mach 10. It's comparing 3/4's of ten thousand miles an hour to a guy who can likely reach lightspeed in a few seconds, lightspeed which is 186,000 miles a second. It's starting to tire me out having to repeat that...there is likely NO WAY Black Bolt is going to catch Superman. |

His arm is part of his body, the beauty of Superman being vaguely faster than Supergirl whom can have a small scuffle in under a second is the fact that it's vague. Add onto that that he has an insane accel rate and he's not going to be afraid to hurt the planet or other people and...I don't know how much clearer I can explain this... Let's see... Mach 10 in regular air is about 7500 Miles an Hour The Speed of Light is 186,000 Miles per Second It takes light four hours to reach from Earth to Pluto Superman accomplishes this in a minute or a few There is roughly 240 minutes in 4 hours In order to make this work Superman must surpass the Speed of Light in a few seconds By the feat of his acceleration he must even in a small window as extending his arm reach MUCH faster speeds than Mach 5 or 10 Superman is not afraid of hurting the planet or stand by people because Goku and Vegeta aren't entering unless he loses, and the planet is invulnerable for this fight He's not going to hold back I don't know how to explain this much more, if I haven't gotten to you guys by now there's no chance of doing so. Not sure if that's a proper way to guage who wins but eh...apparently his voice can destroy planets, however for this match it is instead a mouth blast that's concentrated like ki. I don't think he can tag Superman so he might tire out and leave Superman to open a can of whoop a***. |
